Hey all. I have a quick question regarding Hydromorphone. About a year and a half ago, I sobered up from opiates. I had a pretty bad addiction. With-drawls were hell and ended up going on Suboxone for eight months. I am off of everything now. Here is the problem; I ended up breaking my ankle a few hours ago. I went to the hospital and was given liquid Hydromorphone via IV and they wrote me a prescription for 15 of the 2mg Dilaudids (Hydromorphone). I am a little worried. For this short amount of time, will I automatically have to go through full blown with drawls again? I have not used ANY opiates at all for 18 months…but I am REALLY worried that come tomorrow, I will be dope sick and have to go back on Suboxone. Will I have to go through all of that again, or am I okay and am just worrying too much? Can anyone shed some light on this?
@Maggie I really appreciate the response! But no, I have not taken any Subs for pretty long time (more than a few months). My worry was that I would automatically be addicted again and if I stopped, I would go through that full-blown agonist withdrawal. The reason I did think this is the fact that yes, I did get high on this “medication”. I asked my doctor the same thing and he said: “If you are in pain, the pain will override the medication and it will do its job. This will not get you “high”. However, I got did in fact get high. I got REALLY high. Just like when I was addicted. So much so that it messed with my sleep and all that good stuff. I understand the craving thing. The craving thing has never really gone away…I suppose that may never will. I suppose I should thank “god” or someone for the fact that I have a strong self-efficacy. Getting off of the Suboxone was not easy, but I did it. Again, I wanna thank you for your response. It put my mind at ease.
What flavor are Suboxone, I’m saying lemon-lime and this girl is saying orange.
What follows is a lightly-edited version of one of my posts from a couple years ago. I still think that this is a good model for understanding the actions of buprenorphine.
Buprenorphine and the Dynamic Nature of Character Defects
‘Suboxone’ and ‘Subutex’ are the trade names for medications that contain buprenorphine, a substance used to treat addiction to pain medications and/or heroin. [...]

i have been clean for 2 months but i messed up last weekend. i injected 8mg of suboxone on saturday. i just got into a sober house and took a urine test on thursday. they do test for suboxone. is it still going to show up in my system?
Hello, I have been on Suboxone for about a year and a half. 4 days ago my doctor put me on subutex because I was having really bad headaches and being very moody and I thought it was from the suboxone. plus he told me subutex was going to be cheaper! WRONG! I have been on subutex for 4 days now and i feel like shit! I don’t know if it is just going to take some getting used to or what. But I am still having headaches and i am even more moody now because I woke up this morning feeling like I was in detox all over again! I dont know whats going on with my body. My doctor is awsome though and will let me switch back to suboxone if I want or I can stay on Subutex. I need to see if anyone has been on either of these medictions before so they can give me their input on who they felt. Thank you very much && Happy Recovering!
I have to take a drug test to get into a pain management doctor. My problem is that my test has to be drug free. I have taken suboxine tho, to help me get thru not having any medication. Since it is a synthetic opiate, will it show positive in my test? Any help is appreciated. I am just trying to get in to see a pain specialist. BTW There are no other drugs in my system, no weed, nothing. Thanks again.
